In this week’s Deadliest Catch reveal of Season 11, Elliott Neese is going far beyond his battle with his drug addiction. As the video shows below, Capt. Elliott is still telling camera operators they better not be recording scenes he doesn’t want the viewing audience to know about.
As previously reported by Inquisitr , Elliott handed control of the Saga over to his first mate, Jeff Folk . In last week’s episode, Neese was growing increasingly impatient with Folk for not being able to locate a dock light.
In tonight’s episode, executive producer for Original Productions, Jeff Conroy, says Elliott Neese faces a “breaking point” with his addictions on Tuesday’s episode. This Deadliest Catch reveal is a major storyline as Neese weathers the rough Bering Sea in the midst of his troubles.
“There’s a breaking point tonight. We are at the edge of everything,” Conroy says.
Yahoo cites a few messages tweeted by Neese after last week’s episode. He reminds Deadliest Catch viewers that the show was filmed last October and a lot has changed for him since then.
“To everyone yea I had issues but went to passages Malibu for 60 days and have a new outlook on things now! Hate all you want but I’m above it,” Elliott tweeted on May 13.
In another tweet, the embattled captain added: “All you people out there only see what DC wants! There are worse things going on on other boats but they just choose to expose my hardships.”
Conroy tells Yahoo that the crew filming these difficult stories at sea have a safe escape if absolutely needed, with another boat following in the distance. Those filming the show are ready in case things get hostile on the boats while recording the most difficult times for those on the show. There were a few times that concerns were raised for the film crew on Elliott’s boat, but those traveling on the Saga reassured producers they could handle it when they felt unwelcome in Neese’s presence.
Conroy said almost every phone conversation ended with making sure everyone was okay on the boat.
“‘Do you feel safe? Do we need to get you off the boat? They kept saying, ‘No, no, we’re good.’ “
Typhoon Nuri was still a factor on the May 19 episode. Rough seas are added into the drug addiction storyline… a storyline in which Conroy says is an important topic that affects so many people and their families. That’s what makes this Deadliest Catch reveal so compelling… Elliott Neese’s addiction is hitting a climax and everyone sees that the young captain is in denial.
Conroy feels that in spite of the negativity surrounding the Saga captain, he’s a hard-working fisherman going through some very real problems.
“Elliott’s an incredibly high-achieving crab fisherman. He’s a young boat owner and captain. It’s tragic to see.
Most of the time, any addict is somewhat capable of hiding the real bitter details. We can tell a lot more of the story because his crewmates are telling us [their suspicions]. One of the best things about Elliott is that he is such an open book, and he does say things that the rest of us would never say to another person, much less on camera. That’s what makes him such a raw and real character. That’s what I love about him, is that he is so raw. But this is a time when it works against him…”
