Ellen DeGeneres and wife Portia De Rossi have seemingly shut down divorce rumors with a joint outing in Los Angeles.
Last Friday, on the heels of several reports claiming the couple is nearing a split, Ellen DeGeneres and her actress wife were photographed walking into upscale vegan hotspot Crossroads Kitchens in West Hollywood.
As Radar Online revealed to readers on May 20, Ellen DeGeneres remained straight-faced as cameras snapped photos and her wife, de Rossi, gave a slight smile. The outlet also pointed out that recent rumors had suggested DeGeneres’ close relationship with Drew Barrymore had allegedly become a threat to her marriage.
As the outlet explained, Ellen DeGeneres and Drew Barrymore, who split from husband Will Kopelman last year and proclaimed her bisexuality shortly thereafter, are not only friends but also professional partners working on DeGeneres’ newest project, the NBC reality series First Dates .
“Portia is threatened by [Ellen DeGeneres’] relationship with Drew,” a source claimed to Radar Online weeks ago. “Their emotional bond is obvious, and Portia is feeling completely left out.”
Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi got married at their Beverly Hills home in 2008 after about four years of dating. In August, the couple will celebrate their nine-year wedding anniversary.
Following reports regarding Ellen DeGeneres’ close relationship with Drew Barrymore, a Life & Style insider claimed the talk show host’s wife was looking skinnier than ever as she and DeGeneres reportedly remained at odds.
“When they argue,” said an insider , “Portia barely eats.”
Ellen DeGeneres’ 44-year-old wife has reportedly been open about her struggles with an eating disorder in the past, and as she and DeGeneres continue to face rumors of an impending split, her friends are reportedly concerned about her low weight.
“Portia copes with marital stress, which she can’t quite control, with [eating less] food, which she can control,” said the insider, adding that de Rossi’s wife is also “very concerned.”
“She’s been watching Portia’s fluctuating weight and eating habits,” the source explained. “It can take Portia days, sometimes, weeks to get back into a healthy eating pattern. I don’t know how much longer she can do this.”
The Life & Style insider went on to reveal that when Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi recently turned up at a restaurant in Hollywood, the talk show host appeared to be miserable while de Rossi allegedly looked sad.
“‘Happy’ isn’t the first word I would use to describe them,” a staffer claimed.
Despite the ongoing rumors of a split, Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi have maintained a united front.
“We’re just really good friends and we talk about everything, and we never ever, ever lie to each other, like, not even the tiniest lies,” Portia de Rossi explained to Entertainment Tonight last year. “And she’s the only person I want to hang out with. Like, she is my best friend and I just want to be with her all the time.”
Ellen DeGeneres gushed over her wife last fall during an interview with People .
“Portia and I constantly say to each other, ‘We are so lucky,’” Ellen DeGeneres said at the time . “I’ve gotten to a place where I really am just settled. Really. I know that I’m not going anywhere. She’s not going anywhere. I’m not saying the relationship took a while; I’m saying in my life, it took a while to find this.”
