COMMENTARY | Stanwood Elkus, a retired barber told neighbors he was angry over incontinence when he shot Dr. Ronald Gilbert to death. Elkus is scheduled in court for the first time Wednesday.
It remains unclear whether or not Dr. Ronald Franklin Gilbert, 52, was the physician who operated on Stanwood Fred Elkus, 75, for prostate problems leading to his supposed incontinence. Elkus was sent to jail with a $1 million bail after police said he shot Dr. Gilbert multiple times. Police spokeswoman Kathy Lowe says the urologist appeared to be the sole shooting target.
So basically, he’s angry because he was being forced to give a crap. But I digress.
The Inquisitr previously reported that Dr. Gilbert had died of multiple resultant wounds:
“It happened around 2:45 p.m. [PST] at a medical office in the 500 block of Superior Avenue near Hoag hospital, according to the Newport Beach Police Department … Police say the doctor was found in a second floor exam room suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the upper body … He was pronounced dead at the scene.”
According to the Huffington Post , Stanwood Elkus had serious prostate troubles and was upset when a recent surgery left him running to the bathroom constantly, oftentimes in mid-conversation. Miguel Soto, who lives across the street, stated:
“One day we were talking about other things outside and he says, `Oh hold it right there!’ and he was rushing to his house and when he came back, he said, `I have a problem with my prostate.’ He said, `I had surgery and now I am worse than before the surgery.’”
It could have been worse, as The Inquisitr has reported, since one man in Kentucky who went in for a routine circumcision ended up having his genitalia removed for fear of cancer. Now that’s something no man wants to wake up to, unless he’s planning on it anyway.
According to Dr. Ronald Gilbert’s biography on the Orange Coast Urology Group’s website, he was a surgeon in general urology and sexual dysfunction, including vasectomies, and bladder and prostate cancer. One of his specialties involved using a laser to vaporize prostate tissue blocking the urinary tract, says Emirates 247 . He had worked for 20 years at Hoag Hospital and was its former urology chief.
