Since his inauguration in January, Donald Trump has never really stopped with his bizarre activities, and this time, his latest victim is the Florida highway.

According to a recent report by the Irish Star, the 4-mile-long portion of the South Boulevard stretching from Palm Beach International Airport to the Mar-a-Lago estate could soon be renamed as “President Donald J. Trump Boulevard.” The Palm Beach County Board of County Commissioners is slated to vote on the proposal this Tuesday.

Donald Trump‘s ties to Florida go back years. Even during his recent press conference after his trip to the “Alligator Alcatraz,” the South Florida detention center, he couldn’t help but talk about how much he loves the state. In 2019, he moved his official residence to the Mar-a-Lago club from New York City, where he had lived for many years. He has also performed significantly well in the Sunshine State during all his presidential bids.

There’s no doubt that he has established a strong Republican footprint in Florida over the last decade. So his latest bid to change the South Boulevard might not be as unhinged as it sounds.

Earlier this year, the Florida Legislature passed a bill, which was signed off by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis. The bill directs the state’s Department of Transportation to honor the Republican President by rebranding the particular stretch of the boulevard. However, it can not go into effect until local approvals are obtained.

If approved, you can expect to see the stretch adorned with the new Trump-branded signs by this September. However, it will still be recognized as Southern Boulevard for official works like name change, addresses, and emergency services.

🚨 BREAKING: Florida is on the verge of the creation of “DONALD J. TRUMP BOULEVARD” down in Palm Beach – the road leading into Mar-a-Lago.

A bill just passed through the state Senate UNANIMOUSLY that would rename Southern Boulevard between Kirk Road and S. Ocean Boulevard.

DeSantis, who once had a beef with Donald Trump, has managed to patch things up during the 2024 Republican Presidential primaries. Just last week, the pair was seen together at the Alligator Alcatraz. The Florida Governor announced that the immigration detention center is designed to initially hold around 3,000 detainees. Under the federal government’s 287(g) program, undocumented immigrants who are detained by Florida law enforcement will be sent to this facility, which is situated at an airport.

According to a member of Trump’s team, this Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE)-authorized program allows authorities to interrogate the immigrants as well as hold them for deportation.

The center, which was built in mere eight days, is equipped with 400 security staff, over 200 security cameras, and more than 28,000 feet of barbed wire. According to the reports, the administration is currently working on expanding the capacity to 5,000 beds by early July.

This South Florida detention center, which has earned massive MAGA support, is being dubbed “inhumane” by critics. Regardless of the controversy, Alligator Alcatraz sure furthers Donald Trump’s immigration crackdown efforts.
