Jurassic World star Chris Pratt may run from dinosaurs, but he’s not running from public opinion.
The velociraptor expert and trainer is a vocal Christian, gun supporter, and hunting advocate who makes no apologies for his political and religious views.
That’s surprising for an actor who makes a living in the normally liberal town of Hollywood.
Most Hollywood conservatives have to hide in the basement and wait to express their beliefs during secret meetings of Friends of Abe Inc. The private political group was started ten years ago and keeps its membership private to prevent them being blackballed from the famously left-leaning industry, according to the New York Times.
Pratt, however, is a proud gun-toting, God-fearing actor who isn’t afraid to express his political and religious beliefs or let the world know how he feels. Maybe that’s why people love him so much.
When Pratt’s wife, actress Anna Faris, gave birth to their son nine weeks prematurely, doctor’s feared the baby would suffer a lifetime of disabilities.
Although their son spent the first month of his life in the intensive care unit, Chris and Anna stayed by the child’s side and prayed to God throughout the ordeal, Pratt told ABC News.
“It restored my faith in God, not that it needed to be restored, but it really redefined it. The baby was so beautiful to us, and I look back at the photos of him and it must have been jarring for other people to come in and see him, but to us he was so beautiful and perfect.”
Chris and Anna’s son survived his premature birth and a cute new YouTube video shows Pratt teaching his son the Pledge of Allegiance.
After starring in Parks and Recreation, Pratt had his breakout performance in Guardians of the Galaxy and The Lego Movie .
Pratt’s goal is to make as many big movies as he can before eventually moving out of Los Angeles to live in a smaller community, Chris told The Conservative Tribune.
“The big picture is my wife and my son and I living somewhere other than L.A., just being able to be a Boy Scout leader, drink beer on Saturday, go to church on Sunday, having fun.”
Maybe that’s why Pratt has already signed for the Jurassic World sequel, according to the Inquisitr . With the debut of Jurassic World hitting the all-time record high for box office sales at $204.6 million domestically and $511.8 million worldwide in its opening weekend, the franchise promises to be a good cash cow for Chris and family .
