Ellen DeGeneres announced that she’ll be marrying her girlfriend Portia de Rossi since California State Law has decided to legalize same-sex marriages. After making the announcement yesterday during the show’s taping, someone spilled to TMZ and Ellen subsequently released the following to The Advocate :
I’m thrilled that the California supreme court overturned the ban on gay marriage. I can’t wait to get married. We all deserve the same rights, and I believe that someday we’ll look back on this and not allowing gays to marry will seem as absurd as not allowing women to vote.

The next couple I hope we get to see walk down the aisle is Cynthia Nixon and longtime girlfriend Christine Marinoni, especially after she revealed that she would consider if “if it became legal” in New York .
There are a lot of people celebrating out there, celebrities or not, and that includes all the Californian wedding planners and florists. If they’re happy, I’m happy!
