American Airlines have unveiled their new look in decades.
According to NBC News , on Thursday, American Airlines unveiled their new look that they have been developing as they try to emerge from bankruptcy.
The new look has brighter colors, an “updated eagle” peeking out from a ribbon, a more contemporary font, and bold red-white-and-blue stripes for its fleet’s tails.
The debut of their new look is American Airlines latest step in their attempt to create a more modern travel experience for it’s passengers.
American Airlines’ Chairman and CEO Tom Horton:
“Since placing our landmark aircraft order in July of 2011, we’ve been building anticipation toward a moment in time when the outside of our aircraft reflects the progress we’ve made to modernize our airline on the inside.”
According to USA TODAY , the new look is designed to reflect American Airlines’ view of itself as the USA’s flagship airline.
Virasb Vahidi, American’s chief commercial officer, said:
“As guardians of an iconic American brand, we were very thoughtful about how we modernized the brand. It has a lot of equity around the world.”
He continued by saying:
“People identify with it, and being the flagship carrier of the United States of America is a privilege for our airline. We take that very seriously.”
The first plane to don the new look with paying passengers will be a new Boeing 777-300ER on a flight from Dallas/Fort Worth and Sao Paolo, Brazil at month’s end.
The airline says that between 150 and 200 planes will have the new design by the end of the year.
All of American Airlines’ planes, including those of its American Eagle subsidiary, should have the new logo in five years.
