Miracle Milly is the world’s smallest dog according to Guinness World Records.

As previously reported by The Inquisitr , the previous world’s smallest dog was a tiny terrier from Poland.

Another dachshund puppy vied for the title of the world’s smallest dog , although you’d imagine with those short feet this determination was based upon height and not length. Speaking of which, Miracle Milly is the world’s smallest dog only on the basis of height, not length.

According to Guinness World Records, Miracle Milly weighs in at an astounding one pound, standing “tall” at 3.8 inches when measured from backbone to paw, which is less than the average soup can. In order to win the Guinness World Record for the world’s smallest dog, Miracle Milly dethroned Boo Boo, a long-haired Chihuahua from Kentucky that stands six inches tall. But Miracle Milly still loses out to another Chihuahua named Heaven Sent Brady which measures six inches long.

Miracle Milly is a two year old Chihuahua owned by Vanesa Semler in Puerto Rico. Mrs. Semler says when Miracle Milly was born she weighed less than one ounce and fit inside a teaspoon. Miracle Milly was so tiny she couldn’t nurse from the mother and they weren’t sure if she’d survive. So Mrs. Semler fed Miracle Milly with an eyedropper every two hours until she grew large enough to feed normally.

And now Miracle Milly eats fairly well, apparently. Miracle Milly loves “salmon and chicken” according to the owners, eating four times a day. They spoil Miracle Milly like a child, giving her a “new toy almost every week.”

What is the most common reaction people have to Miracle Milly? “People are amazed when they see her because she is so small,” Semler said. “And she has a big personality. People love her.”
