Apple iOS 7 To Receive Major Changes As New Rumor Points To Slow Development

With Apple iOS designer Scott Forstall out and head designer Jonathan Ive taking control of the Apple iOS 7 build, the company is heading in a new direction.

A source at Bloomberg claims that iOS 7 is receiving a major overhaul with a new flat design. Along with that design will be major changes to the iOS Calendar and iOS Mail apps.

According to rumors, Ive has asked Apple’s software and hardware teams to work together in designing iOS 7 and the Apple 5S and Apple 6 devices.

While working together might sound like a positive step in the right direction, some analysts believe Apple is now rushing towards completing iOS 7 so it can debut at WWDC on June 10.

The source at Bloomberg says Apple could release the iOS by October 2013; however, recent executive shakeups reportedly caused submission deadlines to be back by upwards of one month.

Development is said to be slow enough that members of the Mac OS X team have been brought into the mix. Those members are being utilized to keep everything on track.

Apple’s flatter design is also rumored to be ditching the company’s former focus on skeuomorphism. Jonathan Ive is also believed to have de-cluttered the Apple iOS 7 interface.

The iOS designer is believed to be meeting with makers of gesture controls technology. The tech could be used to allow for screen navigation without every needing to touch the Apple iPhone’s actual display. Gesture technology was one of Samsung’s big selling points during its Galaxy S4 presentation.

According to Electronista:

“A source notes that Ive is now attending meetings with the software design group and its leader, Greg Christie, in order to offer feedback. He is reportedly being respectful and trying to avoid forcing through his ideas, while also giving earlier glimpses at what future hardware will look like.”

Are you looking forward to the Apple iOS 7 ?
