Selena Gomez is totally in charge of her social media accounts—and it’s paying off. The pop princess has a whopping 89 million followers on Instagram alone, and she manages it all herself without the help of a social media consultant, according to the Hollywood Reporter .
Gomez told THR she doesn’t put a lot of thought when it comes to what she put own her popular feed.
“It comes in a moment when I capture something happening, and I go, ‘Oh, that would be great for Instagram. I should post it.’ I know it’s boring, but that’s genuinely what I do,” Selena said.

Gomez, who bumped bestie Taylor Swift from Instagram’s most-followed top spot earlier this year, also says it was never her mission to become the most widely followed celebrity on the social media site and she admits there’s no method to her madness, except the fact that Instagram happens to be her favorite of all of the social sites.
“It wasn’t my goal to be the most followed person,” Gomez revealed. “It’s my favorite social platform.”
Some of Selena’s social media tips include not over-thinking captions. Gomez says if a caption isn’t coming to her easily, she just uses an emoji and is done with it. Selena has also become very active with Instagram’s extended video product, with some of her mini movies being viewed millions of times.

Selena Gomez also uses Instagram to keep her fans in the loop as she travels during her Revival tour. Selena has posted shots backstage and at fan meet and greets. The singer said when it comes to what types of photos to post, she tries to find “a good balance of just being 100 percent myself and knowing when to post a really good selfie with good lighting.”
As for some of her more personal shots—like a recent pic taken in a grocery store that caused some fans to question if the pics are “staged”— Gomez explained that the opportunity came up while on tour in Canada because her tour photographer went into the store with her.
“I’ve created this bond with him, so it’s super organic when he takes photos,” Selena explained. “We were in the grocery store, all shopping for the bus, and I always eat when I shop. I remember one of the comments said, ‘I cannot believe she rented out the grocery store for a photo shoot,’ and I died laughing. I was like, ‘Well, I didn’t.’ ”

According to Time , Selena Gomez now reigns supreme as the celebrity with the most-liked photo on Instagram. A June shot of Selena holding a bottle of Coke that says “You’re the spark” has received more than 4 million likes. Selena posted the photo with the caption: “When your lyrics are on the bottle.” The phrase is a lyric from Selena’s 2015 song “Me and the Rhythm.”

Selena’s photo is part of Coke’s current “Share a Coke and a Song” campaign. The campaign features Coke bottles featuring lyrics from more than 70 songs.
And before her Coke photo blew up Instagram, Selena Gomez was part of the site’s previously most-liked pic, a throwback snap of her and ex-boyfriend Justin Bieber sharing a smooch. That pic was posted on Bieber’s page and it received 3.7 million likes.

Selena Gomez is blowing away her celebrity competition when it comes to followers on social media. Her ex-boyfriend Bieber trails her by more than 15 million followers on Instagram, and she’s millions above other singers like Swift and Katy Perry.
