Watch IMDb’s ‘Top 250 Films’ In Three Minutes [Video]

IMDb made a video mash-up that is sure to shorten any movie buff’s bucket list by condensing their “Top 250 Movies” list into an easy-to-digest 3-minute clip.

You’ve seen the lists before: The Top 50, 100, or more movies to see before you die. IMDb took their Top 250 films and borrowed clips from each, condensing them into a fun video montage beneath a Beatles and Joan Jett remix.

The best thing about the clip is that the Top 250 by IMDb are actually ranked by their site’s users. Regular folks like you and I put these films into the montage instead of stuffy academics from AFI. What makes the montage so fun is that almost all of these movies are instantly recognizable to even the most marginal film fans.

It’s not like reading through a Top 100 list of films and walking away having only heard of over half of them and promising yourself you’ll get around to it, or worse, not recognizing them at all. Any aspirations you may have to conquer such a list are encouraged by IMDb’s clip. They don’t make it seem like a chore.

In any case, some of the films included are The Usual Suspects, Pan’s Labyrinth, Gone With the Wind , and Forrest Gump . Film fans will note that many Tarantino films made the cut, including Pulp Fiction and Inglourious Basterds , and many Scorsese films round out the list as well ( Shutter Island, Goodfellas ). Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises also make the cut, and a familiar “Are you not entertained?” screamed by Russell Crowe’s Maximus in Gladiator stands out at the halfway mark.

You have three minutes. Watch IMDb’s Top 250 films mash-up below. Warning: NSFW thanks to Joe Pesci.
