Dakota Fanning has her first boyfriend, and after keeping the relationship quiet for a while the 19-year-old actress is going public with her 32-year-old beau.
Fanning has been spotted with Jamie Strachan, a model hailing from the UK, for the past several weeks, but sources told E! News that they’ve actually been together quietly for a few months.
The actress has been quiet about her dating life, but indications say this is her first real relationship.
“I don’t really date,” Fanning told the Glamour in March . “I have a weird vision of relationships because my parents have known each other since second grade, and they got married right out of college. I’ve always thought that’s what it’s supposed to be like, and if it’s not, then I don’t want to waste my time on it.
“Even when I was 14, I was like, ‘I’m not gonna marry this person. What’s the point of doing it?’ It’s not me being naive. I just know what it’s supposed to be like. And I think until I feel that, I cannot be bothered.”
Strachan has been a mainstay in the modeling world, posing for designers that include Calvin Klein, Hugo Boss, and Gucci.
The first big relationship comes as Dakota Fanning has struck a new, adult tone in her professional life. One making her living as a child actress, Dakota has made strides in the past couple of years to take on more adult roles .
Though there have been some hiccups along the way — at 17 she appeared in a racy Marc Jacobs ad that showed her sitting with an oversized perfume bottle between her legs — Dakota Fanning has been more or less successful in transitioning to an adult actress.
