That folks is the speed of the now Certified Superspeed USB ; or as it is also known – USB 3.0 which you gotta admit is pretty damn fast. We’ll first start seeing the adoption of this nitro’d version of the USB specification in things like solid state drives, external hard drives, digital music players and digital cameras.
For now though you can stop drooling because the word is that actual implementation probably won’t start happening until sometime in 2010 or so says the USB Promoter Group; which is made up of heavy weights like Intel, Microsoft, Texas Instruments and NEC.
Just to give you an idea of the improvement – the USB 3.0 specs make it about 10 times faster than the current USB 2.0 we currently use.
