Josh Radnor split with Julia Jones, his girlfriend of more than a year, making the How I Met Your Mother star single just as his longtime character Ted Mosby is ready to find true love.
Radnor and Jones had been together since late 2011, Wonderwall noted. Radnor said he was attracted to the 32-year-old Twilight actress because she is “really intelligent.”
Still, it was a bit of an odd pairing. Radnor slammed the Twilight books in an interview with New York Magazine’s Vulture in September 2012 even though his girlfriend at the time was starring in the movies.
“I tend to read things that are a little more on the nourishing side,” he said. “But if I don’t enjoy something, I’ll put it down.”
Now that he has broken up with Julia Jones, Josh Radnor finds himself in a situation similar to his lovelorn character, Ted Mosby. For the past several seasons, Ted has been on an unsuccessful quest to find his true love, enduring many failed relationships.
But HIMYM writers have finally thrown Ted Mosby — and loyal fans — a bone, setting it up for the character to meet the “mother” at the end of the current season. They have said he will meet her at the wedding of friends Barney (Neil Patrick Harris) and Robin (Colby Smulders).
With news that Josh Radnor split with Jones, he has now been through two relationships with two actresses. Between 2008 and 2009, he dated Lindsay Price, whom he met on the set of How I Met Your Mother in 2007.
