Hertfordshire, England – A foot-long rat recently attacked a seven-year-old girl while she slept in her bed last week.
The child reportedly screamed when she awoke to find the animal in her bed. Thinking her daughter was having a bad dream, her mother rushed in to check things out. That’s when she discovered the rat had attacked the girl while she was sleeping.
Francesca Williams’s face and arm were covered with blood from the animal’s bites.
“She was crying and said a big brown animal had bitten her,” the little girl’s mother explained. “She said she woke up after feeling something crawling on her leg and when she moved it bit her.”
She added, “We could see from the blood on her face and arm that something had happened, so my husband Darren went to get our dog Hattie to see if it could find anything.”
The family dog soon found the animal hiding out under the little girl’s bed. The dog quickly charged in and killed the rat before it could strike again.
Although the little girl was understandably shaken by the rat attack, she has since returned to her bedroom when it’s time to go to sleep. Her mom remarked that the whole situation could have been much worse.
“You hear about rats carrying diseases and so we worried Francesca may have caught an infection but she’s been to the doctors and has been given some antibiotics and luckily everything is okay,” she explained. “It could have been so much worse. What if it had bitten her near her eye or if the rat had bitten a baby? It’s frightening.”
Folks in San Francisco have recently been battling a bit of a rat problem as well. Although no reports have surfaced about giants rats attacking little girls, the animals have instead focused their attention on vehicles parked in the area.
Many folks have stated that rats are causing serious damage to their cars. The animals reportedly get under the hood to chew cables and wires . Some drivers have even found the rats attempting to nest inside the automobiles.
