Live event ticket search engine FanSnap has taken $5 million Series B in a round that lead by Highland Capital Partners. As part of the deal, Richard de Silva, General Partner at Highland Capital Partners, will assume a seat on FanSnap’s board of directors.
FanSnap officially launched in March 2009 after a six month public beta, and has has quickly found a willing audience. FanSnap displays detailed ticket-level results from dozens of ticket providers, with more than twelve million sports, theatre and concert tickets to more than thirty thousand events.
FanSnap’s founders, Mike Janes and Mark Towfiq, previously worked at StubHub and Flock, respectively. Janes also previously served as GM of Apple’s online Apple Store. Apple VP of Internet Services Eddy Cue is now on the company’s advisory board as well.
FanSnap said it a statement that it plans to use the funding to extend its product and category leadership.
