The Emmys this year perfectly mirrored the viewers’ expectations, and it was quite a biased outcome as popular sitcoms Breaking Bad , Modern Family and Sherlock took home multiple awards.

Breaking Bad may have left the silver screen sometime ago; however, that hasn’t stopped it from winning five awards. In addition to the show taking coveted best drama, Bryan Cranston picked up his fourth lead-actor Emmy for playing teacher-turned-drug kingpin Walter White, Aaron Paul garnered his third supporting-actor award, co-star Anna Gunn became a two-time winner, and the show was also honored with a writing award.

The 66 th annual Primetime Emmy Awards couldn’t have been more predictable, reported Forbes . Breaking Bad indeed deserved the recognition owing to its razor-edge story-line and immaculate performances, coupled with one of the best endings ever for a television show.

Interestingly, it appears the Academy wanted to keep things as close to the status quo as possible, reported The Guardian . Hence predictably, Jim Parsons won Outstanding Actor in a Comedy Series for The Big Bang Theory and Ty Burrell won Outstanding Supporting Actor for his role in Modern Family . The Amazing Race won once again for Outstanding Reality Series, and The Colbert Report beat out its older brother The Daily Show for Outstanding Variety Show.

Apart from Breaking Bad , Modern Family stole the show with three awards total. In addition to the Top Comedy Award, Gail Mancuso won for Directing and Ty Burrell got his second win in the Supporting-Actor category.

Some of the other notable mentions included Actress Julia Louis-Dreyfus, winner of Outstanding Leading Actress In A Comedy Series for Veep , writer Steven Moffat winner of Outstanding Writing for a Miniseries, Movie or a Dramatic Special award for Sherlock, Julianna Margulies who won her second lead-actress Emmy for The Good Wife and third overall.

The Emmy Awards also honored the late comedian Robin Williams. Veteran comedian Billy Crystal offered a moving tribute to the great man. Jim Parsons winning the Outstanding Actor award certainly strengthen the casts’ demands about enhanced remunerations that are said to be a million per episode.

The Emmy awards might have been a little too predictable this year, but “Weird” Al Yankovic had the audience in splits with his parody about majority of the popular television series including Game of Thrones.
