The GoPro HERO3 made its debut at CES 2013 , and the company quickly impressed with a much improved upon design.
The new rugged cam setup includes a design that is 30% smaller, 25% lighter, and 2x more powerful than previous offerings from the company.
The mountable gear is also waterproof up to 180 feet; can capture ultra-wide 1440p 48fps, 1080p 60 fps, and 720p 120 fps video; and offers 12MP photo capturing with up to 30 photos per second. The GoPro HERO3 maintains its still photo and time-lapse photo modes and adds a new continuous 12MP stills feature at 3, 5, or, 10 photos-per-second with up to 30 photos at any given time.
In terms of connectivity, the new GoPro HERO3 offers built-in Wi-Fi, GoPro App compatibility and a Wi-Fi remote.
The system’s audio has also been approved to pick up natural sounds with higher quality captures, while the GoPro wind-noise reduction system, already a very competent part of its arsenal, has also been improved for better results.
In the world of wearable and installable technology, the GoPro HERO3 impresses and not just because it’s attached to an awesome automobile.
According to GoPro, customers “desiring a cinematic look will appreciate the ultra-high resolution 2.7KP-30 fps and 4KP-15 fps (Protune only) video modes.”
