The Vertu TI is the first smartphone from the luxury handset maker to feature the Google Android OS, and now the smartphone is available for $10,500.
Leaked at the start of the month, the Vertu TI ‘s price tag is despite the company’s head of design admitting that “Vertu will never be at the bleeding edge of technology.”
What the company fails to offer in terms of bleeding edge technology, it makes up for in craftsmanship. The Vertu TI offers a titanium shell for a higher level of protection compared to industry standard devices. The device’s handsets are also inspected carefully with the signature of employees inscribed by laser on the lid of the SIM holder.
In terms of features, the Vertu TI runs on a 1.7GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor with 1GB of RAM. The handset also features 64GB storage but offers no LTE support.
Also featured on the smartphone are a rear 8-megapixel camera and a 1.3MP front-facing complement.
Buyers also receive a sapphire glass screen with a low 800×480 pixels of resolution that supports a touchscreen interface.
Vertu customers are also given access to a concierge service via a dedicate concierge button.
The Vertu Ti is available at 500 retail locations around the world. Customers can also pick up the TI via 70 company-owned stores.
While not for everyone, the exclusivity of the Vertu TI will likely attract fashion forward buyers looking for a device all of their friends are not likely to have.
