In addition to the iPhone 5 , Apple unveiled a new iPod and a larger iPod touch Wednesday, PCMag reports . Both will include the new 8-pin “Lightning” dock connector.
The new iPod touch will be available in a variety of colors: blue, yellow, pink, black, white silver, and slate. Pre-orders will begin Friday, September 14, and the device will be available in stores in October. The 32GB model will cost $299 and the 64GB model will cost $399.
The touch looks similar to the iPhone 5 and has a 4-inch screen, and weighs in at 88 grams, making it the lightest iPod touch. At 6mm, it is also the thinnest iPod touch on the market. It will feature a 5-megapixel camera with LED flash and backside illumination. It also has Retina display and will come with iOS 6 and Siri. Apple is promising 40 hours of music playback and 8 hours of video playback.
The new nano will sell for $149 for the 16GB model, and will also be available in October. The seventh-generation nano features a 2.5-inch touch display and is 5mm thin. The home screen and home button have been redesigned. It will come in seven colors — black, white, blue, green, purple, yellow, and red.
Like previous models, the nano will have FM radio and a pedometer that can be integrated with Nike+. For the first time, the device will also have Bluetooth, allowing users to stream their music collection wirelessly. Users can expect 30 hours of music playback.
Both the iPod touch and nano will come with new Apple EarPods, which are designed for a more natural fit and improved audio quality.
