Are Seth MacFarlane and Charlize Theron dating? They’re playing coy, but the two have been spotted out and about lately enjoying dinner and spending time together in Beverly Hills, getting the gossip mill churning.
The pair previously brushed off rumors of coupling over a month ago, but after being spotted sharing what looked like a romantic dinner at Matsuhisa on Monday night, paparazzi descended on the two, with Theron obscuring her face and MacFarlane grinning like the giant (but funny) man-baby he is.
The two were first put together after working together at the Oscars (she danced onstage during his opening number). “Charlize finds Seth to be a great guy who not only makes her laugh but has so much on the ball,” a source said of the two in February.
But closer sources say that 37-year-old Theron and 39-year-old MacFarlane are just friends. Furthermore, the dinner might have just been a friendly work date, since Theron recently signed to co-star in MacFarlane’s upcoming comedy A Million Ways to Die in the West . Could have been more business than pleasure, indeed.
However, we’d be remiss if we didn’t mention that both parties are currently single. MacFarlane split with Game of Thrones actress Emilia Clarke last month , though the two were adamant that their dating relationship was merely casual.
Theron hasn’t been linked in any major relationship since splitting with Stuart Townsend in 2010. The couple were together for nearly ten years, but never married.
A source tells E! News that they’re “not dating,” adding that Theron is “not his type.”
“I’m not somebody who has to go home and talk about theoretical physics at the end of a day when I’ve already been wringing my brain dry,” MacFarlane said of his dating history . “I don’t necessarily look for an intellectual equal. I’d rather have somebody whose company excites me. That’s what my father had.”
