Mistaken for Strangers , the new tour documentary from Brooklyn band, The National, will premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York on April 17. Mistaken for Strangers was made by Tom Berringer, brother of the group’s frontman, Matt Berringer.

“When my brother asked me along on tour as a roadie, I thought I might as well bring a camera to film the experience,” said Tom Berringer, recorded by Rolling Stone . “What started as a pretty modest tour documentary has, over the last two and a half years, grown into something much more personal, and hopefully more entertaining.”

NME reports The National will also play a live concert after the film screening.

2013 is shaping up to be a big year for The National with the band set to release a new album in May . The new album, which is still untitled, will be the first new album from the band since their popular 2010 album, High Violet. High Violet has been The National’s most successful album, debuting at number 3 on the Billboard 200.

Mistaken for Strangers covers the band’s tour following the release of High Violet . In the wake of their new album, the National will kick off a summer tour in June, which will finish with a homecoming show at Brooklyn’s Barclay Center. The National did release new music last year, with the song “ The Rains of Castamere ,” a collaboration with Song of Ice and Fire creator, George R.R Martin, written especially for the soundtrack of the HBO series, Game of Thrones .

Mistaken for Strangers is not the first music documentary to be made about the band. In 2008, The National were documented in the film A Skin, A Night , detailing the production of their 2007 album, Boxer . Mistaken for Strangers takes its name from a track from Boxer .

“We’re really happy to premiere this movie at Tribeca, as New York has been home to us for these past 15 years,” Matt Berringer said. “I was happy to give my brother whatever access he needed. I just didn’t expect this movie to include shower scenes.”

The Tribeca Film Festival runs from April 17 to 28 and The National’s Mistaken for Strangers will be the first film screened.
