Google Chromebook Sells Out At Top Online Retailers

Google recently announced the pre-order arrival of the Google Chromebook from Samsung, and now the device appears to have sold out at the top US online retailers.

Among retailers to sell out of the surprising hit early in the day were Amazon, Best Buy, and even the Google Play Store.

Later in the afternoon, Best Buy did revise its listen to show stock for the device.

Google has not revealed how many Chromebook devices it is initially offering. Google has struggled to turn its Chromebook device sales around, and this could be the push it needs to gain traction.

To help along sales, Google has provided a decent device with some power behind its $249 price point. Among Google Chromebook features are a dual-core A15-based Samsung Exynos Dual Soc, 2GB RAM, 16GB of built-in flash storage, Wi-Fi a/b/g/n, and bluetooth.

The Chromebook’s display pushes out 1366 x 768 pixels of resolution, and it comes in at a weight of just 2.5 points.

For added connectivity, the Google Chromebook also offers USB 3.0, USB 2.0, HDMI, an SD card slot, and even a SIM slot for mobile connectivity.

While the Chromebook only offers 16GB onboard storage, buyers do receive 100GB of free Google Drive space for a period of two years.

The Chromebook may not be the preferred device of high-end users, but, with a promised 6.5 hours of battery life and rather decent hardware options based on its pricing, Google could have its first Chrome OS based PC on its hands.

With the Microsoft Slate RT upon us and the iPad Mini tablet just around the corner, the battle of the OS could be heating up just in time for the holiday shopping season.
