Randy Moss Is The Greatest Receiver Of All Time, Says Randy Moss

Randy Moss is the greatest receiver to ever play in the NFL. Don’t believe me? Just go ask Randy Moss.

During the Super Bowl media today in New Orleans the 49ers receiver said, multiple times, that he was the greatest wide receiver to ever play in the NFL.

Moss said :

“I don’t really live on numbers, I really live on impact and what you’re able to do out on the field …. I really think I’m the greatest receiver to ever play this game … Now that I’m older, I do think I’m the greatest receiver to ever do it.”

If you do go by the stats, Jerry Rice is the greatest receiver of all-time. Rice, who holds just about every NFL receiving record, had 1,549 receptions for 22,895 yards and 197 receiving touchdowns during his career. Moss comes close but he’s still about 500 catches, 5,000 yards, and 50 touchdowns short of the all-time leader.

Mike Fisher at Fox Sports argues that even if you disregard the stats, Jerry Rice is still the better receiver. Rice went to the Pro Bowl 13 times, was named All-Pro 12 times, and won three Super Bowls. Moss, on the other hand, is still looking for his first Super Bowl ring.

Of course, you can’t just dismiss Moss from the conversation. He does hold the record for most receiving touchdowns in a season, 23, and is second to rice on the all-time receiving touchdown list with 156.

What do you think? Is Randy Moss the greatest receiver of all-time?

Moss’ teammate Michael Crabtree said :

“It’s Randy Moss, Randy Moss, Randy Moss … The guy makes plays. Rice is No. 2. (Somebody) might be mad at me for saying it, but I don’t care. It’s Randy Moss — the best playmaker ever.”

Rice disagrees.

Randy Moss said he’s the greatest all-time WR. To which @ jerryrice just said, “Put my numbers up against his numbers.”
