Verizon Wireless is preparing to launch V Cast Apps, a new app store for the companies lineup of Android based smartphones. The store will be separate from the standard Android Market with special V Cast content and matches the companies Blackberry device app store which competes directly against the Blackberry App World.

Developers can already submit their apps and Verizon is hoping for a 14 days approval to placement goal within their own app store. One advantage to the program is that billing will be added directly to a customers Verizon Wireless account, rather than through Paypal payments as is the case with Android market buyers. Verizon is also still offering the same 70/30 revenue split currently used by Google to pay developers.

According to Electronista :

A public launch date for the V CAST Apps portal has yet to be announced. The offering will initially be limited to devices running the latest Android build, v2.2 Froyo.

In the meantime, it will be interesting to see if Verizon approves apps customers actually want or just those that serve the companies own interests.
