On Thursday, Sony announced that sales of the PlayStation 3 and the PlayStation Vita during the week of Black Friday (from November 18 to November 24) reached an impressive amount.

During the week of Black Friday, Sony says that over 525,000 units were sold in the US alone. Sony’s PlayStation Vita, on the other hand, only managed to sell 160,000 units within the same period. Despite the comparatively low numbers, Sony is nonetheless excited.

“We’re very pleased with the Black Friday sales results, especially the incredible reception for the PS3 and PS Vita bundles,” said SCEA President and CEO Jack Tretton. “The demand was very strong which quickly depleted our inventory across retailers nationwide.

“The PlayStation brand generated significant revenue and year-over-year growth at retail because of our focus on what gamers love most in combining amazing hardware with great games and digital entertainment.”

The most popular bundle Sony offered was the PlayStation Vita bundle that packed in Assassin’s Creed 3: Liberation , a code for PlayStation All-Stars , three months of PlayStation Plus, and a 4GB memory card for a mere $180 at Amazon. Sony says that bundle managed to sell out in only five hours.

Sony said that other bundles, such as the Black Ops: Declassified and the Lego Batman 2 bundles, also managed to sell out at retailers. Both of those bundles retailed for $199.99.

Nintendo also boasted impressive sales over the week of Black Friday. After the week was over, Nintendo says that over 400,000 Wii Us were sold online and at retailers. When combined with the Wii, the Nintendo 3DS, and the Nintendo DS systems, Nintendo sold over 1.2 million consoles during the week of Black Friday in America alone.
