Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump, for the first time in 2016 presidential election campaign, will take the same stage on the same night as NBC News holds a Town Hall event that will stream live from New York City Wednesday — a Town Hall that airs 19 days ahead of the first official presidential debate, and will focus squarely on issues related to the military.

Scroll down this page for a full replay of the Hillary Clinton vs. Donald Trump Town Hall, hosted by Matt Lauer.

Because the event is a network-sponsored Town Hall, however, and not a formal debate, Clinton and Trump will never appear on stage together during the NBC broadcast as they field questions from “an audience comprised mainly of military veterans and active service members,” according to the veteran’s advocacy group Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America, which will co-sponsor the Town Hall .

And while the Town Hall format generally allows candidates to give more detailed, expansive answers than is possible in a debate, where rules usually limit the time for each answer to 90 seconds or even just one minute, the Wednesday Clinton vs. Trump Town Hall will feature a faster format than previous candidate Town Hall broadcasts, such as those airing during primary election season, with just one hour divided equally between Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton.

Also, with NBC Today Show host Matt Lauer acting as moderator for the Town Hall, an interviewer known mainly for asking “softball” questions and cozying up to his subjects, whether the candidates can be kept focused on the issues raised by audience members remains an open question.

The Town Hall was held at the Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum — a military museum aboard the decommissioned aircraft carrier U.S.S. Intrepid, on the Hudson River in New York, New York. Watch a full replay in the following video.

The day prior to the Town Hall, Hillary Clinton released a new campaign video advertisement, slamming Trump on his attitude toward military and veterans issues. As with most similar ads assembled by the Clinton campaign, the ad relied primarily on quotations and news clips from Trump himself.

Trump, meanwhile, has planned an entire week around the theme of military issues, focusing less on his solutions to problems and more on personal attacks on Clinton, and broad promises backed by few specifics.

In a speech to a military audience in Virginia Beach, Virginia, on Tuesday, Trump repeated his pledge to defeat ISIS as well as to repair the “disaster,” as he described it, as Veterans Administration hospitals and trash the Iran nuclear deal reached by the administration of President Barack Obama, calling it “one of the dumbest deals I’ve ever seen.”

Trump also, without explanation, claimed the the deal preventing Iran from developing nuclear weapons had established the country as a “world power.”

Clinton, however, was not letting Trump’s remarks go unchallenged on Tuesday, ridiculing Trump’s “plans” during her speech to a rally in Tampa, Florida.

“He says he has a secret plan to defeat Isis but the secret is he has no plan,” Clinton told the enthusiastic audience. “After all his talk the only thing that is clear is he has no clue about what he’s talking about.”

The Democratic nominee also blasted Trump for his claim that he knows more about how to defeat ISIS “than the generals do.”
