Jennifer Lawrence has been a strong advocate for women’s rights over the past couple of years and, like many celebrities, had a strong message following the win by Donald Trump — a presidential candidate who was controversial for a number of reasons. While other celebrities have encouraged the masses in opposition to Trump to remain calm and to work towards unity and healing, Lawrence has called for rage.

The Hunger Games star has noted that she is furious about the outcome of the vote and is urging fans to let the results of the election “enrage” them while allowing that rage to turn to something good. Lawrence had previously stated that should Trump become president it would be “the end of the world,” and since learning the results of the vote, she has vented her anger within the column Broadly, as the Independent notes.

“Is this the stark reality? It doesn’t matter how hard you work or how qualified you are, at the end of the day, if you’re not a man? Is that what we just learned? The country was founded on immigration and today the only people that feel safe, that their rights are recognised and respected are white men.”

The star went on to preach caution in regard to street rioting, but also added that those who are angered by the result should focus on the next move as opposed to dwelling on what cannot be undone or changed.

In the column, Lawrence suggests to become as advocate and activist for environmental concerns and research ways to save the planet, seeing as Trump has denied climate change and has not shown any interest in bettering the global situation in this regard. She elaborated even more when it came to the topic of women who are feeling defeated and angered with the result.

“If you’re a woman and you’re worried that no matter how hard you work or how much you learn, there will always be a glass ceiling, then I don’t really know what to say. I don’t know what I would tell my daughter if I were you. Except to have hope. To work for the future. We’re all allowed to be sad that the present isn’t what we thought it was. But we mustn’t be defeated. We will keep educating ourselves and working twice as hard as the man next to us because we know now that it is not fair.”

This is the second time Jennifer Lawrence has written a passionate letter regarding women and gender inequality. Her first note was within Lena Dunham’s Lenny , which was about the gender pay gap following the exposure that came by way of the Sony hack. Lawrence wrote an honest account of what it is like being a female actress and shared that she is sick of the reality that exists between men and women in the industry. The Sony hacks revealed that even as the highest paid actress in Hollywood, Lawrence was still not making the same amount as her male co-stars. She expressed that she is fed up.

“I’m over trying to find the ‘adorable’ way to state my opinion and still be likable!… If anything, I’m sure [men] were commended for being fierce and tactical, while I was busy worrying about coming across as a brat and not getting my fair share.”

Her most recent letter was summed up by encouraging fans to use their anger in a productive way.

“Let this be the fire you didn’t have before… If you are an immigrant, if you are a person of colour, if you are LGBTQ+, if you are a woman – don’t be afraid, be loud!”
