It’s been April since we’ve heard of any developments concerning Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible… Now we’re hearing that the film has finally found its lead in Australian actor Ed Oxenbould .

Oxenbould is said to play the title role Alexander. Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day, is an adaptation of the Judith Viorst book that has proved to be a favorite amongst children.

The film will follow Alexander ‘s family throughout the day of horrible blunders. The “terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day” comes after Alexander wishes for everyone to experience his troubles.

The search for Alexander was a lengthy one. In addition to taking on the role of Alexander, kid actor Ed Oxenbould was in the television show Puberty Blues . Oxenbould joins a successful cast for the 1972 children’s book.

The official synopsis of Alexander and the Terrible… is as follows:

“From the moment Alexander wakes up, everything goes wrong! He wakes up with gum in his hair, fights with his friends, and has to eat lima beans for dinner. At the end of his rough day, Alexander learns some days are just like that. All kids experience this type of day, and will be glad to find they are not alone!”

Back in April we announced that mother of three Jennifer Garner was set to sign on to the film, and right behind her was Steve Carell . Carell and Garner will play husband and wife to Ed Oxenbould’s Alexander. Now that we’ve seen Oxenbould, we can definitely picture him being the offspring of both Garner and Carell.

After a very Hollywood-esque dance, Lisa Cholodenko left the project as director which meant that Fox lost interest. After Fox lost interest, Disney picked up the rights, which explains why this hasn’t gotten off the ground. However along with Ed Oxenbould, we do have a director in Miguel Arteta. Cholodenko’s screenplay is still in tact and Rob Lieber has also a writing credit.

Are you excited to see the film adaptation of Alexander and the Terrible.
