Grey Poupon’s gay pride pic, posted today to the brand’s Facebook , marks the latest brand to “come out” in support of marriage equality and other issues relating to gay rights .
The Grey Poupon gay pride pic was posted to mark National Pride Month, also celebrated worldwide with parades and other events through the month of June.
On their Facebook page, Grey Poupon shared an image with the branded and iconic “between cars” scene — a reference to the old commercials where a luxury car pulls up beside another luxury car and a passenger asks politely if the passengers have any Grey Poupon.
In the Grey Poupon gay pride pic, however, the two passengers in either car, both men, are holding hands. Captioned “spread good taste,” the brand’s Facebook page posted the following message with the image:
“June is National Pride month. Though the festivities technically only last a month, we recommend celebrating all year – because Pride and good taste never go out of season.”
As expected, the Grey Poupon gay pride Facebook image was somewhat controversial, but more supporters than detractors commented on the post.
Some who did not agree with the image said:
