New The Conjuring 2 recordings have been released, which are said to have “inspired the true events” upon which the upcoming film is based.

The Conjuring 2 is without question the most anticipated horror movie of 2016, and to feed into the fan excitement, Warner Bros. Pictures and New Line Cinema have shared a new video on social media, which features the audio recordings.

“The following is taken from the recordings of The Warren Files,” the video says. “These inspired the true events from The Conjuring 2. Listening to these tapes can be dangerous. Envision yourself in a bright white flowing halo of light. Then ask God to protect you from anything evil or demonic in nature. It’s just a precaution Ed and Lorraine always used.”

Ed and Lorraine Warren, for those unfamiliar with The Conjuring , are a real-life husband-and-wife team of paranormal investigators portrayed in The Conjuring and The Conjuring 2 by Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga. While Ed passed away in 2006, Lorraine is still alive to see their stories told on the big screen in blockbuster fashion ( The Conjuring raked in $318 million including a 41.9 million opening weekend, according to the Huffington Post ).

Prior to The Conjuring, the duo were best known for investigating the famous Amityville Horrorhouse, but have also investigated a number of other well-known alleged hauntings — some of which have gone on to inspire their own movies. As the Inquisitr(and others) reported earlier this year, The Conjuring 2 will openwith a scene involving the Amityville case, though the main story for the film involves “The Enfield Poltergeist.”

Warner Bros. recently released this featurette about The Enfield Poltergeist for The Conjuring 2.

According to the Telegraph , the Warrens were among “the many investigators to visit the Hodgson’s North London council home” where the Enfield hauntings allegedly took place in the 70s. The story involves moving furniture, levitating children, demonic voices, and other disturbing sounds.

There are a handful of videos on YouTube unrelated to The Conjuring 2 , which claim to feature real voice recordings from the Enfield Poltergeist. Here is one of them.

The website for The Conjuring 2 has a section that lets users dive into the Warren case files . This includes a handful of audio files complete with one regarding the famous Annabelle doll, which appeared in the first Conjuring movie as well as its own spin-off, simply titled Annabelle .

The Conjuring 2 was written by Carey Hayes, Chad Hayes, James Wan, and David Leslie Johnson. It was directed by Wan, who helmed the first one as well. He did not direct Annabelle , which received much more mixed reactions from fans and critics.

Wan tweeted about the recordings being used to promote The Conjuring 2.

Wan, who first made a name for himself with the original Saw film, and later solidified his status as one of the top directors in horror with Insidious , is hot off the success of Furious 7 , which grossed $1,516,045,911 worldwide, according to Box Office Mojo . Aquaman has been reported to be Wan’s next project, though there have been rumors that the 39-year-old director has considered walking away from the project. Wan recently responded to these rumors with the following tweet.

The Conjuring isn’t Wan’s only paranormal franchise to continue on. Insidious is getting its fourth chapter, as director Adam Robitel ( The Taking of Deborah Logan ) was recently announced as the director. Wan helmed the first two in that series before handing off the third installment to writer and frequent collaborator Leigh Whannell.

The Conjuring 2 recently screened for a few lucky audiences, but it will be released in theaters across the United States on June 10.
