Gilmore Girls star Alexis Bledel has been a mom for six months already, and we’ve all been kept in the dark about it.
Bledel and her husband, Vincent Kartheiser, welcomed a baby boy into their lives last Fall, and we wouldn’t have learned about it if it wasn’t for Alexis’s Gilmore Girls co-star Scott Patterson spilling the beans in an interview with Glamour on May 18.
“She’s really blossomed as a woman and now she’s a proud new mother and married and happy. I remember her as an 18-year-old kid, fresh out of college coming into Hollywood and being a little overwhelmed. She’s just the most likable, intelligent person and adorable human being. She hasn’t changed at all. She looks the same.”
“We’re comparing notes because my son is about a year and a half older than her young son. I’m showing her photos and videos and what to expect. We’re just really enjoying each other’s company,” Scott added.
Alexis Bledel’s representative confirmed the news to E! News , saying that the 34-year-old actress gave birth to a baby boy last Fall.

The couple met in 2012 when Alexis appeared as a guest actor on the AMC hit Mad Men . The pair played secret lovers in the show’s fifth season, with Alexis’ Beth Daws being the unsatisfied housewife Vincent’s Pete Campbell had a secret affair with.
Before long, the secret romantic trysts Bledel and Kartheiser acted out on the set of Mad Men transferred into real life. And just like in the show, they preferred to keep their romance private.
In 2012, they finally made their carpet debut as a couple at a photography event in New York City. After five months, Alexis and Vincent got engaged.
Bledel and Kartheiser always preferred to keep their romance low-key. In June 2014, the couple finally tied the knot in a secret wedding ceremony in California. In an interview with Vulture , Kartheiser revealed that he was staying with Alexis in Brooklyn.
Mad Men co-star Jon Hamm expressed his support for the union in a Vulture interview, saying, “I did know he liked her from a very early point. I was a supporter of that union.”
Mad Men creator Matthew Weiner was also vocal in his support of the relationship.
“I told Vinnie that they would be great together. I was like, ‘Don’t blow it!’”

He also made a bold prediction to the show’s writers that Vincent and Alexis would get married someday.
“Honestly, they’re a really good match,” Weiner said. “They’re both very down to earth, with a sense of responsibility and strong family ties. And they’ve been acting since before they can remember, which makes for a very special personality. It’s not just that I thought they would look cute together.”
Weiner added, with a laugh, “Even with all of Alexis’s amazing qualities, I think that if she had not been such a good actress, he would not have been interested.”
It’s amazing how Alexis and Vincent were able to keep the pregnancy a secret, especially in the age of social media. Equally amazing is the fact that they were able to keep the baby a secret as well.
No specific details about the baby has been made public yet, so we can only wonder for now what name Alexis and Vincent has given him. We’re pretty sure that the baby is a cute one, especially if he got Alexis’s famous blue eyes.
