Those who were expecting God to be revealed this week on Supernatural would not have been disappointed: that they were right, of course. There are mixed reviews over the episode as a whole, with some fans saying the show had finally jumped the shark.

Watch out for spoilers below!

This week saw the Winchesters having to deal with Amara’s fog , as Entertainment Weekly reported. Her virus was back, and this time Sam’s cure would not work. To make matters worse, Dean could not be infected, but he did risk losing his brother.

It was just a good job that God was around, although it looked like he was going to allow his creation to end. It wasn’t until the very end that he stopped his sister and made his presence known: Sam has had Dean’s amulet all this time!

Yes, this week saw Supernatural reveal God. It had been hinted at throughout Season 11. After all, if God’s sister was going to show, and if God’s favorite archangel had been let out of his cage, surely the big man would have to appear at some point. When the announcement was made that Chuck would return for an episode, fans instantly jumped to the long-believed idea that Chuck was God.

Those who did believe that and were happy with that idea were not disappointed with this week’s Supernatural episode. “Don’t Call Me Shurley” brought Metatron to a diner, where Chuck was waiting. Why was Chuck there? It turned out that he was and is God, and now he needs an editor for his latest book. The best person for editing work has to be God’s scribe, Metatron.

With the big reveal, Metatron wanted to know more. Why had God disappeared for so long? What was he planning to do about Amara? Why did the book not have more juicy secrets?

It turns out that humans were not God’s first big creation. His sister was always “nothingness,” and God wanted her to respect his creations and see life was out there. As he made something new, she would always destroy it, so he locked her away and created humans. When she was released, she just had to destroy his hard work yet again.

Of course, God is not happy with humans anyway. They don’t take responsibility for their actions, and their nature is toxic. It did lead to Metatron having a dig at God. After all, he abandoned Heaven. God says that was him being responsible, but Metatron says it was him being a coward.

#Supernatural was treading on some thin ice tonight with their blasphemy. I know it’s just a show but you don’t call God a coward.

It looked like humans were about to be destroyed, but somehow Metatron got through to God. Some words of wisdom made God realize that he cannot give up. He needs to fight to protect his creation, so just as it seems all is lost for the Winchesters, God saves the day. It wasn’t even that hard for him to do.

Something happened on @cw_spn that I’ve been waiting to happen since season 4. #Supernatural

There have been mixed reviews about the big reveal. While many fans were excited about the episode, some have said that it jumped the shark. Others didn’t really want to see God’s reveal, especially not the way that it happened. It just goes to show that one show cannot please everybody.

@cw_spn Great choice!! Chuck as God!! It’s about time Dean and Sam get to meet the big guy!! One of the best episodes this season!

There are just three episodes left of Supernatural Season 11. The finale title hinted that God would return, but now it hints that he will help to save the day. The way Chuck/God handled the fog makes it look like handling Amara will be child’s play. Surely, that cannot be the case. Otherwise, why did it take both God and Lucifer to trap Amara?

Next week’s Supernatural trailer makes it look like God is the only one who can get rid of Amara, and he doesn’t look too willing to do it. Dean is giving him a speech about how she will destroy him once she destroys his creation. Tune in to Supernatural on Wednesday nights on the CW to find out how it all ends for Season 11.
