The 2016 Met Gala took place in New York City last night, and some of the A-list stars attending wore outfits that did an amazing job of meshing high fashion with mind-blowing tech. Some in particular changed our perceptions of what the next generation of fashion might be like.

The theme of 2016’s Met Gala was “Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology.” The Gala was sponsored by Apple , reports Mashable, with one of the company’s lead designers, Johnny Ive, co-hosting the event alongside Taylor Swift. With those credentials, everyone expected the 2016 event at the Met museum in NYC to be a technologically stunning affair, and the styles shown off on the red carpet before the Gala even began proved them right.

Here are a few examples of the next-gen getups displayed at 2016’s Met Gala.

Claire Danes: “Electric Fairytale”

The Homeland actress Claire Danes stepped onto the 2016 Met Gala red carpet looking like a princess straight out of a fairytale – the sky blue hue of the dress she wore with her golden hair pulled into a bun drew a lot of comparisons to Disney’s classic Cinderella . The dress was designed by Zac Posen.

But Danes pushed her audience’s admiration even further when her already beautiful dress lit up. Apparently, it was adorned all over, and even more heavily on the edges, with small lights.

Watch her show it off in the short clip below.

Karolina Kurkova: “Social Flowers”

Karolina Kurkova is one of the most successful models in the world , reports Forbes , and her glamorous face was not even the highlight of her look at the Met Gala.

The translucent silver dress adorned with glowing white flowers was incredible in itself, but when she explained to CBS that the glowing colors would change based on the emotional tone of social media reactions involving the 2016 Met Gala and the intensity of the glowing would fluctuate based on the volume of those reactions, people lost their minds. How cool! The dress obviously took some technological know-how to create, so it is no surprise that IBM Watson did some work on design house Marchesa’s dress to create this marvel.

Check it out in Kurkova’s short demo below.

Lady Gaga: “Circuit-Board Dream”

People points out that Lady Gaga has been known to dress in wild and crazy “futuristic” outfits for red carpets in the past , so it is safe to assume no one was too surprised when she showed up to the 2016 Met Gala in a silver leotard, fishnets, and platform shoes.

What is pretty impressive, though, is that, according to Billboard , the leotard’s silver design is actually made from old computer circuit boards . Way to take the “fashion meets machine” Gala theme literally, Gaga!

Gaga’s harshly contrasting makeup job and her bouffant-style hairdo only add to her next-gen punker look.

Dozens of Others: Silver and Chrome

Although the outfits above were some of the clearest examples of “Fashion in an Age of Technology,” many of the 2016 Met Gala’s other attendees made an attempt to incorporate the mantra into their outfit choices as well by rocking metal accessories of future-inspired clothing. Some honorable mentions include Zayn Malik and Gigi Hadid, who donned matching metal attire, Alicia Vikander in a multi-colored mini-dress, and Kim Kardashian in a robot-inspired silver gown.
