It’s a moment that both of Lady Gaga’s and Kesha’s fans have been waiting for, for most of their lives. The singers hung out and shared some of their sweet interaction on social media. Their recent meeting has come in light of unfortunate circumstances.

Lady Gaga was one of the first music artists to show her support for Kesha following her court battle against Dr. Luke . A judge denied her request to free her from her contract and to release music outside of her deal with the music producer. She also wanted to meet her fellow pop star in person to show some actual physical support. Gaga took to Instagram, Snapchat, and Twitter to share her support for the “Tik Tok” singer.

In one of the photos, Gaga is seen holding Kesha’s hands as the two pop singers lean their heads next to each other with their eyes closed. She captioned the sweet moment, “Free Kesha.” Gaga also shared a black-and-white photo on Snapchat, which showed her kissing the starlet on the cheek while giving her a big hug. In the caption, Gaga wrote, “She makes me smile.”

On Friday, Feb. 19, the singer and actress tweeted, “There are people all over the world who love you @KeshaRose. And I can say truly I am in awe of your bravery.”

Gaga, Demi Lovato, Ariana Grande, Adele, Kelly Clarkson, and countless other musicians have publicly expressed their support for Kesha. Meanwhile, Taylor Swift personally donated $250,000 to the singer-songwriter to help cover her legal fees. On Wednesday, Feb. 24, Kesha took to Instagram to personally thank her fans and fellow musicians for their ongoing support. She also addressed the ongoing legal battle and her uncertain future as a music artist.

“All I ever wanted was to be able to make music without being afraid, scared, or abused. This case has never been about a renegotiation of my record contract – it was never about getting a bigger, or a better deal. This is about being free from my abuser. I would be willing to work with Sony if they do the right thing and break all ties that bind me to my abuser.”

Lady Gaga has been nominated for Best Song at the Oscars for “Til It Happens To You,” a song about rape, which she co-wrote with Diane Warren. The songwriter says that Kesha’s current legal battle parallels the horrific situation described in the emotional ballad.

“She’s brave. Braver than I would’ve been. She can’t record ’til she gets a decision from a judge. In this business three years can be like 10 years, unless you’re Adele. So she must feel strongly to take the stand.”

During their press tour, both Gaga and Warren have spoken out about the song’s significance in their lives. Gaga has revealed that she too was raped by a music producer at the age of 19, while Warren has revealed that she was a victim of child molestation.

“Working on this with Diane has helped me relieve all of this in a bad way at first. It’s healing, but it’s like a wound that has to crack and be messed up before it heals. I would never have done this without Diane. I would never be able to face it by myself and sing somebody else’s song. It had to be something that I believed in to my core.”

“Til It Happens To You” is also featured in The Hunting Ground , a documentary where rape victims step out of hiding and name names.

Lady Gaga is scheduled to perform the song at this Sunday’s Oscars. It’ll be any wonder if she will also address Kesha’s heartbreaking situation in either her performance or her acceptance speech.
