Michael Jackson came alive during Beyoncé’s Super Bowl halftime show. No, Beyoncé did not perform a number by the “King of Pop,” neither did she give a speech. It was a subtle but very smart gesture on part of Beyoncé, MTV News said.

Beyoncé’s military-inspired look by Dsquared2 was definitely an homage to the King of Pop. That’s right, Michael Jackson wore a similar costume at Super Bowl XXVII, back in 1993, Vogue has said. The jacket, which was similar to what Michael Jackson wore, had bands across the chest.
Beyoncé has been on a roll for some time now. At the Super Bowl, her high-powered political performance at the Super Bowl was praised by many and some are hailing her as a social activist already. The pointed to the Black Lives Matter movement, Malcolm X and Black Panther , the Guardian has said. The dancers in Beyoncé’s performance were reminiscent of the black power salute by Tommie Smith and John Carlos at the Olympic Games in Mexico back in 1968.

The dancers also stood up against the shooting incident in San Francisco and held a card with a message that said “Justice 4 Mario Woods.”
This performance was expected from Beyoncé, given that her new single, “Formation,” which she released on Saturday, made subtle references to Hurricane Katrina and the killing of young black men in the U.S., the New York Times said.
However, it’s not just Beyoncé but Jay-Z who has won the hearts of his fans by announcing that he would donate $1.5 million to the Black Lives Matter movement and several other social justice organizations.

In view of this, it doesn’t come as a surprise that Beyoncé should embrace the same movement as her hubby. Although many are impressed by her tribute to Michael Jackson, this may not be the first time she has made a political statement in her music video. Her Video Music Awards Performance in 2014 ended with the word “feminist” being projected in the background.

The Guardian criticized the performance at Superbowl by English singer Chris Martin. Coldplay performed “Paradise,” “Via La Vida,” and the single “Adventure of a Lifetime.” They brought a bit of an Indian touch, at least to their instruments as they garlanded their instruments with flowers and had the name of the band written in Hindi. All that was good, but nothing electrifying.

Although Viva La Vida may have worked in England (with Barcelona FC manager Pep Guardiola playing it before every match), it did not really create its magic at the Superbowl until Beyoncé took over. Some went as far as to call Coldplay the “victims” of the Superbowl.
It was all thought out and planned when Beyoncé released her single “Formation” on Saturday, just a day ahead of the Super Bowl. Not a lot got a whiff when she released her single on Instagram and her website. And now they can be watched on Tidal, a music service that is owned by singer’s husband, Jay Z. Tidal had earlier released Rihanna’s Anti .
The video she posted on Instagram showed she and her dancers practicing the dance moves from “Formation.” This was seen as a complete turn around in terms of the control the music superstars exercise on their content. They can reach their fans directly.
It can certainly be said that Beyoncé’s Michael Jackson tribute has worked for her. Her announcement of a world tour and her politically charged performance at the Super Bowl will be remembered for a long time.
