D-Link on Tuesday began selling its all new SharePort All-In-One travel router, a self-contained WiFi router that plugs directly into a wall socket without the need for further wiring. The device allows for USB charging and shared disk access along with temporary WI-Fi network creation and a built-in AC plug for easy traveling and use.

D-Link is also offering free apps so the all-in-one travel router can be used as a mobile-based media server.

If the hardware looks familiar that’s because it closely resembles the previous version of Apple’s airport express.

Buyers willing to pay around $70 for the mini router will receive a 10/100 Ethernet port on the base that connected to a wired network while sharing capabilities include 802.11 g/n Wi-Fi with one-touch access point configuration. Plugging the USB port into a storage device then turns the router into network attach storage which can be accessed via Wi-Fi as a shared drive and through iOS and Android provided apps.

If protection is your main concern the SharePort All-In-One Travel Router offers dual SPI and NAT active firewalls.

The hardware also allows for powered charging of devices without needing to connect network connections.

Other company’s feature similar products such as the TP Link N Nano router which can be grabbed on Amazon for $25 but lacks the network sharing capabilities found on the SharePort All-In-One travel router.

While the D-Link DIR-505 (SharePort) may not be necessary for all travelers it could come in handy for business travelers who need to constantly connect to multiple devices while accessing documents for business sharing purposes.
