LG has promised to answer the Samsung Galaxy S III with the LG Optimus 4X HD and now the company is answering that challenge with the official release of its new smartphone throughout Europe.
The new Optimus 4X HD features Nvidia’s 1.5 GHz quad-core Tegra 3 processor which powers the devices large 4.7-inch True HD IPS display (1280×720 pixels of resolution), an 8 MP read-facing camera and a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera.
The 4X HD also features a standard configuration with 16GB of internal storage and DLNA media sharing support alongside MHL video output over its included USB port. The company also points out that its 2,150mAh battery is slightly better than the Samsung Galaxy III’s 2,100 mAh and the 1800 mAh option found on the HTC One X. The device is also thin at just 8.9 millimeters.
The LG Optimus 4X HD is now available in Germany with other countries to follow shortly including the Netherlands, Sweden, United Kingdom and Italy.
LG has not yet given a release date for North America and other countries around the world.
LG has tried to make a power play for more of the US market however the Optimus 2X debuted on T-Mobile with some technical glitches which put the company’s US smartphone run in debut.
In the meantime yet another quad-core Android device entering the market shows the lack of differentiation now occurring within the Android Market where device manufacturers slightly change the design features of their devices while offering what amounts to almost identical hardware and software configurations which they often purchase from the same parts suppliers.
