Instapaper has finally made its way to Google Android based devices after spending its time on the iOS platform.
If you are unfamiliar with Instapaper it is a platform that allows users to save linked on their mobile devices in order to read them later when your phone is not online (great for long plane trips and reading in remote areas). Instapaper for the most part does the same thing as the iOS app however its creator Marco Arment didn’t have the time to create the application himself, instead turning its creation over to Mobelux, the same company that created Tumblr for Android.
Users have been quick to point out that the new Google Android version of Instapaper is sorely lacking a full screen reading option and users will likely be frustrated by its lack of pagination. Both of those missing components were quickly pointed out by Google Play reviewers.
While some features are missing others are notably included such as the ability to save most web pages as text only, the option to set text size, line spacing and margins and the ability to control brightness and automatically switch to dark mode for nighttime reading. The app comes auto defaulted for light switching to ensure optimal reading output without any hassle although users can override those settings.
Another notable difference in the application is the price, while the iOS version runs $4.99 the Google Android version is just $2.99 which might have something to do with the lack of full screen mode and pagination.
