Forget About The iPhone 6s: Is Apple Already Planning 2018 iPhone?

The iPhone 6s and 6s Plus haven’t even arrived in the hands of consumers yet. However, Business Korea already has some alleged information about Apple’s upcoming 2018 device .

“According to an industry source, Apple is ‘serious’ about transferring its flagship product lineup to one equipped with organic light-emitting diode (OLED), screens as those displays can solve its existing weak points such as color saturation, accuracy, and brightness.”

Besides an OLED screen, the iPhone may take on a completely different form according to the article.

“‘It is very likely that the first flexible iPhone may be introduced in 2018, as Apple’s top-tier display suppliers are working on it,’ the source said.”

Of course, some may speculate this is pure clickbait hype, but Business Korea has given accurate information about unreleased Apple products in the past. Then again, this is a phone that won’t be released until 2018. Much could change by the time it is ready to ship.

In the present time, Apple has just shipped iPhone 6s and 6s Plus pre-order units. Apple Insider has the news.

“Ahead of an official iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus launch on Sept. 25, Apple and partner wireless carriers began informing preorder customers on Saturday that their devices are now in transit, scheduled to arrive on Friday.”

In the past, some people who pre-ordered their iPhones have received them before release day. If you haven’t pre-ordered your iPhone yet, you can always get it at an Apple Store retail location on Friday, but you will probably have to line up hours before the store opens.

“Customer response to the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus has been incredibly positive, we can’t wait to get our most advanced iPhones ever into customers’ hands starting this Friday,” Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of worldwide marketing, said in a statement on Apple’s website. In 2015, many customers complained that they weren’t able to get the exact iPhone they wanted, even after standing in line for several hours before stores opened.

There have been no official reviews of the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus yet, but many iPhone fans have been disappointed that this year’s update didn’t include a higher resolution screen. The 4.7-inch iPhone 6s will have a 1334 x 750 pixel resolution display and the 5.5-inch iPhone 6s Plus will have a 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution screen. These days, most competing phones have Quad HD displays and many are shocked that Apple is behind the times. Are you getting an iPhone 6s or 6s Plus on Friday? Let us know in the comments section.
