Dakota Johnson appeared as a guest on The Ellen DeGeneres Show this week to promote Black Mass, but the conversation quickly turned to the actress’ former film, Fifty Shades of Grey . In fact, the talk show hostess was very interested in the way in which men reacted to the star after the release of the film.
“Do you notice a difference in guys approaching you or not approaching you?”
“You mean, like, when they run away from me,” asked the 25-year-old celebrity.
The joke was probably meant to brush off the topic, but Ellen wasn’t so easily diverted. She pressed further for a more serious answer, reported People magazine.
“Like at a party, are people more attracted to you or you think people are scared of you?”
“I don’t know. I guess that, if those are the only two options, I guess that they’re scared of me,” replied Johnson.
“Those are the only two options,” DeGeneres pushed back.
“I guess they either love me or they’re running for the hills. I guess they’re running for the hills,” the Fifty Shades of Grey star responded.
Dakota Johnson Reveals a Weird Encounter
The discussion continued along those same lines, as Ellen asked her guest about odd encounters, due to the star’s participation in the E.L. James-based novel, according to US Weekly .
“Well, sometimes, people just say things that are a little bit awkward for me,” the Black Mass star admitted. “Like, I was in a cab recently, and the driver was like, ‘My wife and I, we saw your film. We really liked it.’ And he goes, ‘…I thought there could be more sex.’”
“And I was about to roll out of the car as he was driving,” Johnson added.
Moving on from weird encounters, or perhaps extending the theme into even more uncomfortable territory for the actress, DeGeneres asked if her famous parents, Don Johnson and Melanie Griffith, had seen the film.
“Nuh-uh, nobody in my family,” Dakota responded.
Ellen’s Sex Toy Giveaway
The talk show host wanted to be remembered, when Fifty Shades Darker begins filming next year, because she bestowed a bevvy of gifts on Dakota Johnson before the segment ended. The gifts, sex toys from Ellen’s own line of products, included a blue flogger, rhinestone-encrusted handcuffs, and an “Ellen’s got me covered” blanket.
