The iPad Pro was unveiled at the Apple Event on Wednesday, Sept. 10. The larger-than-life tablet has been compared to Microsoft’s Surface Pro . Even with its hefty price tag, it’s been compared to Apple’s MacBook Pro.

Even a report via ZDNet noticed that Apple’s iPad Pro has been compared to both the 12-inch MacBook and Microsoft’s Surface Pro. Some consumers believe that the Surface Pro is better since it’s cheaper and comes with a keyboard. Meanwhile, the most recent tablet in the iPad Pro line costs just $200 less than the MacBook Pro.

The great thing about the 12.9-inch iPad Pro is that you can use it for work or school. It replaces the need for an iPad and MacBook . However, it runs a mobile operating system, which means you’re limited when it comes to running certain programs or accessing flash websites. On the other hand, Microsoft Office finally runs on the iOS.

The iPad Pro isn’t available for purchase until November on the Apple website, Apple Stores, and select carriers and authorized Apple resellers. The company hasn’t made an announcement for pre-order information. The iPad Pro starts at $700 for 32GB model with Wi-Fi, $949 for the 128GB model with Wi-Fi, and $1,079 for the 128GB with both Wi-Fi and cellular service.

Apple’s new tablet comes in Silver, Gold, and Space Grey. There is no Rose Gold option like with the already popular iPhone 6s. If you want, there are also new smart covers and silicone cases to cover your iPad Pro. The smart covers only come in two colors: charcoal gray and white.

The iPad Pro is bigger than previous iPads since the screen is 3 inches larger. However, it is “ thicker and heavier ” than the iPad Air 2, according to a previous report via MacWorld .

The great thing about the iPad Pro is that you can use Adobe Photoshop, Microsoft Office Suite, and learn about anatomy , especially if you’re in medical school. It also allows you to run apps side by side, watch movies, play video games, and use the QuickType toolbar – a new feature in iOS 9 that allows you to bold, italicize, or copy/paste or add attachments with a few taps.

So, how does the iPad Pro stack up to the MacBook Pro? The MacBook starts at $1,299 with a 12-inch Retina display. The specs aren’t the same and the processors will obviously be different – Intel vs. Apple’s internalized operating system. It depends on whether you want iOS or OS X Yosemite.

The MacBook Pro shares the same Force Touch technology as the iPad Pro. However, it boasts better features like flash storage and longer battery life. Other than the operating system and pricing, there’s not much difference between the latest iPad and MacBook.

If you need a tablet that allows you to connect to the internet and use apps, then you may want to stick with the iPad Pro. If you need something that has a larger processor and acts more like a desktop computer, then you may prefer the MacBook Pro.
