Last week, Alison Parker was murdered during a live television broadcast in Virginia, and her boyfriend is speaking out about her last days on earth. According to People Magazine , Chris Hurst has opened up about his girlfriend’s life, and says that he and Alison were living what seemed like a fairy tale before she was killed.
“I believe God knew she was going to be taken this week. He made sure her last times on this Earth were the best of her life and I feel it was,” said Hurst. He recalled some of the special moments that he shared with Alison recently, and said that the two had plans to marry — once he could afford to buy Alison the “ring that she deserved.”
Alison Parker’s life came to a tragic end when Vester Lee Flanagan (a former employee of WDBJ) decided to go on a rampage of sorts, walking up to his former co-workers (cameraman Adam Ward was also killed), and shooting them while they were filming a segment.
Chris Hurst met Parker over a year ago when she was hired by the station (Chris also works there). After several months of admiring from afar, Chris got the courage to ask Alison out on a date. The two have really been inseparable ever since.
Chris and Alison were recently rafting in North Carolina’s Nantahala River with her family when the two shared an incredible moment together. Chris says that Alison turned to him and said that this was the place that she wanted to become his wife. Parker’s family and Chris have decided to spread her ashes in the area.
Chris says that he wants to share his love story with the world because he wants everyone to know that Alison Parker died “incredibly loved.”
As for how he is handling Alison’s death, he says that the grief is always there, just sometimes more difficult to handle.
“The first night I slept at our apartment, I got into our bed and I laid my head on her pillow and I cried out for her. I could smell her on her pillow and at that point I could hear her talk to me.
I want the world to know that while I lost her in the most painful circumstances, I am so grateful that I was able to be in her life for the last nine months of her life.”
