Matthew Perry is set to return home to NBC later this year with the launch of the network’s new fall comedy, “ Go On .”

It certainly won’t be the first time that Perry attempted at making a comeback to the small screen with a new comedy. His most recent attempt with ABC, Mr. Sunshine , didn’t exactly pan out–and in an interview with E! Online, Perry says that he’s glad it didn’t.

While running Mr. Sunshine was a big opportunity for Perry, he says that he’s actually glad to simply be an actor on Go On , rather than having to run the whole thing. “I was kind of glad Sunshine didn’t go as long…I was in charge of that show. Now I’m just an actor again and it’s nice,” he said in the interview.

In Go On , Perry will be playing a sportscaster, Ryan King, whose life gets turned upside down after a freak accident. “He is a sportscaster who loses his wife in tragic way and is forced to go to group therapy, where there’s a bunch of kooky characters…Zany hilariousness ensues,” Perry explained.

Early buzz on Perry’s new show has it that Go On provides a mix of comedic elements with emotional ones–Perry’s character becomes a widow, so naturally the show won’t be nothing but laughs.

While E! had Perry for the interview, they naturally had to ask him about his take on a possible Friends reunion after his former costars threw cold water on the idea . He said that Lisa Kudrow and Matt LeBlanc are likely correct, but he ultimately doesn’t know for sure if it will happen or not.
