Michigan State’s Kirk Cousins was selected in the fourth round of the 2012 NFL Draft by the Washington Redskins.

Cousins has won 27 games as a 3-year starter, yet he was still a little surprised by the Washington Redskins draft selection as he was quoted by Y! News having said:

“I was trying to forecast which teams would be looking at a quarterback and I didn’t see the Redskins thinking along those lines, but coach Shanahan’s words to me were the he couldn’t pass me up.”

To those who caught the draft-day celebration at FedEx Field, the Washington Redskins honored Heisman Trophy winner Robert Griffin III . It appears as if the Redskins are trying to apply some additional pressure to Griffin by drafting Cousins in the fourth round.

Robert has stated that he and Cousins maintained a long distance relationship while in college. The long distance relationship will be up close and personal now that the two have both been drafted by the Redskins; Robert in the first round and Kirk in the fourth.

Cousins played college football at Michigan State from 2007 until 2011. He was the 102nd pick in the 4th round of the 2012 NFL Draft by the Washington Redskins.

Since the Green Bay Packers in 1989, no National Football League team has chosen two quarterbacks within the first four rounds of the NFL Draft. That is of course, until now. The last time Washington chose a QB in the top 10 prior to Griffin was back in 1994 when they chose Heath Shuler, who was eventually beaten by seventh round draft pick Gus Frerotte.

What are your thoughts on the Redskins draft which now includes two quarter backs, Robert Griffin III and Kirk Cousins.
