Arthur Booth and Mindy Glazer had not seen each other since middle school. On Thursday, they met again, but the circumstances could have been a lot better especially for Arthur Booth. On June 29, Booth, 49-years-old, was arrested by Hialeah Police .
NBC New York reported that Booth was driving a car suspected to be involved in a home burglary. When officers attempted to pull the car over, Booth took off. He led police on a high-speed chase. After losing control of the car and wrecking, he fled on foot, and he was eventually caught.
When he showed up in court on Thursday, Judge Mindy Glazer had a single question for Booth that brought him to tears.
“Mr. Booth, I have a question for you. Did you go to Nautilus Middle School?”
Upon hearing the question, Arthur Booth immediately broke down and started crying. He was only able to utter the words, “Oh my goodness, Oh my goodness.” Judge Glazer went on to explain their relationship, and she spoke of how she remembered Booth as a child.
“I’m sorry to see you there, I always wondered what happened to you, sir. This was the nicest kid in middle school, he was the best kid in middle school. I used to play football with him, all the kids, and look what has happened.
“I am so sorry to see you there. Mr. Booth, I hope you are able to change your ways, good luck to you. What’s sad is how old we’ve become. Good luck to you, sir, I hope you are able to come out of this okay and just lead a lawful life.”
Arthur Booth is being charged with burglary, grand theft, resisting arrest, and fleeing. He is currently being held on $43,000 bond. However, by his reaction, the pain of running into an old friend in the situation he was in seemed to hurt just as much as the sentence.
Arthur Booth and Mindy Glazer are not the only two friends that have found themselves on opposite sides of the law. It has been widely reported by historians that Sheriff Pat Garrett and the notorious Billy the Kid were once great friends. In fact many called them “Big Casino” and “Little Casino” due to the amount of cards they played together. While Booth and Glazer’s meeting was much more civil than those two legends from the Wild West, Booth certainly will not soon forget the meeting.
