Rock star Marilyn Manson opened up about his past relationships during a recent interview at Cannes Lions.
The Daily Mail reports that the 46-year-old singer was mainly discussing his journey towards maintaining authenticity as an artist.
When asked about his feelings for his former flame, actress Evan Rachel Wood, Manson essentially slammed her with a single word.
“Mistake!”
Earlier during the same discussion, Marilyn apparently took another subtle shot at Evan Rachel Wood with another quick remark.
“I don’t trust girls who have three names.”
With that particular comment, Manson was also taking a jab at his former wife — Dita Von Teese.
During the Grey Music Seminar, Marilyn Manson was shown a picture of his former spouse. The Eat Me, Drink Me singer mentioned that he and Dita were together the last time that he attended Cannes.
“Even though it failed, she was my longest relationship yet.”
Marilyn Manson and Dita Von Teese reportedly started dating in March 2001. Marilyn popped the question on March 28, 2004, and the couple became husband and wife on November 28, 2005.
In an April 2007 interview with the Telegraph , Dita Von Teese opened up about Marilyn’s partying lifestyle and their marital struggles in general.
“It was difficult, because I was trying to get him help for his problems, and eventually I realized that he didn’t want help. I wasn’t supportive about his partying or his relationship with another girl, and as much as I loved him I wasn’t going to be part of that… Everything went downhill after we got married. I started working a lot to escape my home life.”
Multiple reports claimed that Marilyn Manson’s alleged affair with Evan Rachel Wood played a major role in Dita’s decision to file for divorce.
Wood and Manson first met when he asked her to star in a horror film, Phantasmagoria: The Visions of Lewis Carroll .
However, their turbulent relationship shifted from on to off numerous times – including after the two got engaged during one of Marilyn’s stage performances in Paris in January 2010. The couple went their separate ways later the same year.
In a November 2013 interview with the Daily Beast , Evan Rachel Wood opened up about her controversial, on-again and off-again relationship with Marilyn Manson.
“People were pretty mean. At the time I hadn’t yet been exposed to that kind of cruelty from strangers. If people were wondering why I was acting so-called crazy or like a teenager, it’s because I was. People go through phases. People make mistakes. People go through life and don’t get it right every time.”
Before he was engaged to Evan Rachel Wood or married to Dita Von Teese, Marilyn Manson was in a rocky relationship with Charmed actress Rose McGowan .
