Mobile Assistant Siri May Hit Desktops This Summer

Apple’s mobile assistant Siri is expected to hit desktops sometime this Summer. The company has filed a patent which appears to show the iPhone 4S pairing up to a desktop in order to bring Siri’s voice control services to devices like the MacBook Pro.

The new patent doesn’t name the iPhone 4s, Siri, or the Mac by name but it does mention a voice controlled software platform that operates through “a remote device communicatively coupled to [an] electronic device.” The idea is that Apple won’t add the software behind Siri to its laptops, but iPhone users may be able to take advantage of the voice control assistant by plugging their phones into their computers.

The TG Daily reports that 90% of iPhone 4S owners use Siri once a month. But Siri may not be as popular on a desktop since the main uses for Siri tend to be to make phone calls or send text messages. This has lead some to believe that the new patent may be a step toward a voice controlled Apple TV.

Slash Gear reports that Apple may wait to implement the new system on the iPhone 5 and the next generation of Macbooks.
