Wait, Manny Pacquiao Actually Beat Floyd Mayweather? Scorecard Conspiracy Theory Emerges After Judges Marked Wrong Boxes

Most people believe that Floyd Mayweather was the rightful winner of his eagerly anticipated contest with Manny Pacquiao on Saturday evening. However, despite Floyd’s meticulous and calculated victory over his Filipino opponent, a bizarre conspiracy theory has emerged that alleges Pacquiao actually deserved to win the contest instead of Mayweather.

These rumors started to swirl after the scorecards of judges Glenn Feldman, Burt Clements, and Dave Moretti were released online.

Conspiracy theorists immediately alleged that the Filipino competitor should have been awarded the victory because each of the judges marked that the fighter in the red corner was the victor.

But in the MGM ring on Saturday night Mayweather was actually in the blue corner, while Pacquiao was in the red. This instantly led to speculation from some quarters that Pacquiao had actually been the victor in the eyes of the judges.

However, on closer inspection, these rumors were instantly dismissed because the bottom of the official scorecard from the Nevada State Athletic Commission clearly reads, “Mayweather won by unanimous decision.”

It’s also clear that the three judges each marked Mayweather’s marks under his name, even though the clerical error meant that he was on the wrong side of the ballot.

In the end, Glenn Feldman ruled that Mayweather had beaten Pacquiao by 118-110, while Burt Clements and Dave Moretti ruled that the American had been victorious by 116-112.

Most experts and viewers were adamant that Mayweather deserved to win the contest, which in the process extended his unbeaten streak in the ring to 48 encounters.

However, one man who was insistent that Pacquiao should have won was Pacquiao himself , who after the bout told HBO, via the Mirror , “I thought I won the fight. He didn’t do anything. He was moving around on the outside, so it’s not easy to throw a lot of punches. I could handle his power. I have fought bigger than him and not had a problem.”

Meanwhile, Pacquaio has been embroiled in post-fight controversy after it emerged that he had a “tear in [his] right shoulder,” which he insists ruined his chance to win. Not only is the boxer set to undergo surgery on the injury, but it could also have scuppered his chances of a rematch and could even seen him imprisoned for perjury.
