A ghost wearing boots showed up in a photo taken in Japan, and the picture has gone viral online.

According to ABC News , Martin Springall says that he took a series of pictures of his 4-year-old daughter during a recent trip to Zushi, and one of the shots looked peculiar. Upon close inspection, Springall saw something that looked rather eerie. It appeared as though something — or someone — was behind his daughter. He decided to share the picture with a friend who asked to put it online.

People have been debating its authenticity ever since.

“My daughter is really shy, and she wouldn’t have taken a picture if there was someone standing behind her, which I would have definitely noticed,” Mr. Springall said, adding that the picture was not altered using image editing software of any kind.

The supposed ghost wearing boots in the photo is thought to be a Samurai ghost by believers. Those that know the area say that it is on a beach near a samurai graveyard. For just as many believers there are, however, there seem to be twice as many non-believers, who claim that the photo was either digitally altered, or that there was someone standing behind the young girl despite her dad’s story to the contrary.

As previously reported by the Inquisitr , the internet is still trying to figure all of this out.

Meanwhile, Springall says that his daughter has seen the peculiar boots behind her, and isn’t freaked out in any way.

“My daughter thinks the whole thing is just so funny. She thinks it’s a ghost, but not a scary ghost — a nice one,” he said.

According to U-T San Diego , there are quite a few people who are still curious about the picture. Many are hoping for some kind of paranormal explanation , and hope to find out the truth about the picture.

Do you think it’s legit, or was the photo of Springall’s daughter clearly altered in your opinion?
